About

I wrote my first poem when I was six years old. Actually, I couldn’t write yet, so I dictated it to my father, after pestering him for a couple of days. The result was a two-page poem about the four seasons. In the years that followed I have read a lot, traveled around the world and accumulated interesting life experiences. A few years ago, I started to write poems, inspired by a friend of mine, soon followed the short stories. When I think about a poet or any writer, there are a few words from Kahlil Gibran that come to my mind: “Once I said to a poet, “We shall not know your worth until you die.” And he answered saying, “Yes, death is always the revealer. And if indeed you would know my worth it is that I have more in my heart than upon my tongue, and more in my desire than in my hand.”

I respect those who share themselves with others through their art. I would like to thank a very talented artist and friend, the Brazilian painter Gisele Moura, who has kindly allowed me to use the image of one of her paitings as the cover photo to my blog.

  1. The journey for me began at an early age. I wanted to know who I was and why I was here? My poetry was a way to touch my feelings and free myself from the emotional pain. Through darkness towards light. I wish for you that your journey will open the door into your creative process.

  2. To be a poet is not to say great things, but have a recognizable voice among all others. (Mario Quintana) * Clearings – Mario Quintana.
Congratulations dear Cristina, you are a great poetess.

  3. Cristina, I read a few of your poems and they touched me. Life’s journey is a school and yes, we the poet feel and see in an unique way. I write transformational and psychological poetry. The poems came about to find the word to express my emotional pain and share the wisdom from my journey within. I self-published “Winter’s Mystery-Time To Go Within:Spiritual Journeying” it is my odyssey of becoming. You created a page that is simple and you offer your poetry in a friendly way. In “Winter’s Mystery-Time To Go Within:Spiritual Journeying” there are about 84 poems with photos of Nature’s Healing. Click on “Gallery” on my website and you can see four of my photos from the book.

I am an indie author who has created and published a book. This process was the most healing and creative task I ever took on. I discovered and learned many things that I never thought that I could do. Like learning InDesign, layout, creating a proof copy, copyright and obtaining an ISBN and marketing-still learning that one.

If I can answer any questions you might encounter about self-publishing along the way, please feel free to ask. I would be happy to share .

        Happy Journeying,
        Patricia
